(KUTV) A Lego building competition was held in Davis County on Saturday.

Teams used the building blocks to design and create robots as part of an international competition that began in August.

The robots had to complete several tasks including opening a door, picking things up and kicking a ball into soccer net.

Coach Kirk Schmierer said the tournament teaches kids about engineering, "The whole engineering process of figuring out what you need to do. Designing something, figuring out if it works, testing it and then redoing it until it works is the whole notion behind this game."

The state competition will be held at the end of this month.
