Fun Size
Rated: PG-13
Genre: Comedy
Street Date: February 19, 2013
Available On: DVD and Blu-ray
The Film: It’s Halloween and rather than going to a party teenagers Wren (Victoria Justice) and her best friend April (Jane Levy) are stuck trick or treating with Albert (Jackson Nicoll), her dysfunctional and disruptive younger brother.
The Extras: None
Recommendation: “Fun Size” is essentially “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” for teenagers. It’s all clichés and stereotypes with a surprising amount of sexual humor (particularly because it’s under the Nickelodeon banner). It’s not nearly as bad as the reviews have suggested, but that’s not exactly a recommendation. I can see Justice and Levy having a bright future, but the rest of the cast is just a generic wash of traditional teenage characters. Not to mention the subplot featuring Chelsea Handler adds nothing to the film. “Fun Size” is simply too generic to keep my attention.
