Review: Sadly its about time that studios realize that Justin Timberlake isn't a leading man. Hes a talented actor, but when it comes to carrying a film he simply isn't as charismatic as he needs to be, particularly when the films script isn't nearly as engaging or intelligent as it needs to be. Runner Runner is a lifeless mix of glamor and violence. It wants to be a cautionary tale, but never really addresses the real dangers of online gambling. The film lacks tension and sincerity and ultimately fails to be anything more than a passing distraction. Ben Affleck and Gemma Arterton are fine in their supporting roles, but neither is really given much to do beyond pushing the plot towards its inevitable Hollywood ending (which should feel like a victory, but inspires little more than a shrug). If you're looking for something sexy, dangerous and engaging Runner Runner won't do the trick.
