(KUTV) Salt Lake City - Tragic news rocked our Fresh Living & KUTV family. KUTV lost one of their own after a rock climbing accident July 13, 2017. 26-year-old Matt Hearn was a marketing consultant and worked closely with KMYU, Fresh Living, and KUTV. Matt was rock climbing with his girlfriend near Storm Mountain when his equipment failed and he fell.
Matt brought amazing guests onto Fresh Living over the years. He was responsible for Casey's Road Trippin' segments, bringing the Utah Grizzlies in to the studio as well as Rocky Mountain Raceways, Deseret Industries, and countless other guests and clients. Matt was a hard worker and our viewers will continue to see the results of his work on Fresh Living, as he has done the leg work for amazing segments still to come.
Anyone who's ever met Matt knows he was a joy to be around. His smile and laugh were infectious, and you couldn't help but love him.
Kent Crawford, the general manager at KUTV, released the following statement following Hearn's death:
It is with great sadness that we report the tragic loss of one of our fantastic co workers, Matt Hearn, in a climbing accident in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Matt has worked for station as a Marketing Consultant for the last three years and did an outstanding job on behalf of the station and of all of his clients.
