(KUTV) Derrick Boudwin is a Utah father of 3 who is losing his eyesight.
Boudwin was diagnosed with a retinal degenerative disease "Retinitis Pigmentosa" which has already taken a significant portion of his vision.
"The hardest thing for me about going blind is wondering if I'll be able to see my childrens' faces, um, or if I'll forget them."
Faced with blindness, he talks about touching the faces of his children in hopes that he will memorize the sight of them. "Sometimes my children come and sit on my lap and I, I drag my fingers across their faces and try and really remember what they look like because I never know when it will be the last time that I see them and I know that I'll always want to see them one more time."
Boudwin has always had a passion for music and his diagnosis motivated him to act on it. He released his debut music album "Ever Dimming Room" on Sept. 3. His songs are real stories of his deep struggles with life and overcoming difficult things. The production of the album was done with music professional J.R. Richards of Dishwalla.
