(KUTV) Salt Lake City - On August 21, 2017 a solar eclipse will be visible across the entire United States. Salt Lake City will enjoy a near-full eclipse with 91% coverage. Solar safety is especially important during an eclipse. Using the wrong equipment can result in injury and optical damage. Members of the public are encouraged to visit Clark Planetarium during Solar Week, which runs August 7th, 2017 through August 12th, 2017, for safety instruction and help fitting protective lenses on telescopes and binoculars. Individuals without telescopes and binoculars can safely view the solar eclipse with solar glasses sold at the Planetarium for $2.

For more information about the solar eclipse, go to slco.org/clark-planetarium or call 385-468-7827.
