(KUTV) Salt Lake City - Hale Centre Theatre is proud to announce the grand opening of its new 901-seat Centre Stage Theater on Friday, November 17th, 2017 featuring an inaugural run of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, which is set to run November 17th – January 20th. The musical, which is designed, directed, produced and performed by Utahns, will draw attendees from around the nation to cut the ribbon and raise the curtain on the new 133,306 square-foot Mountain America Performing Arts Centre in Sandy City. The world-class performance facility is home to two new state-of-the-art stages including the one-of-a-kind, technologically-advanced Centre Stage opening on November 17th, and the unique proscenium thrust Sorenson Legacy Jewel Box Stage that opened earlier this year.
The Centre Stage features stage automation solutions created by TAIT Towers, an international live event entertainment technology company, that includes 47 axes of motion powered by 130 motors for hoisting, lifting, sliding and rotating – making the Centre Stage unlike any theatre in the world! An assistive listening system also is built inside the seats of the Centre Stage to transmit sound to people with hearing loss. We are thrilled to welcome Utah to the new theater and look forward to seeing families and friends gather to enjoy spectacular performances in the years to come. The first production on the Centre Stage, Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, features amazing music, dance and costumes that will come to life as never before on stage.
