Check Your Health: Bent Over Rows

If you have a dumbbell at home there are lots of exercises you can do right in your family room. One exercise to try is the bent over row. Dr. Brett McIff with the Utah Department of Health walks Mary Nickles through the exercise:

  • Hold a weight in one hand as you bend forward at the waist.
  • Keep your back as close to horizontal as you can, bending your knees to absorb any strain.
  • Retract the shoulder blade on the weight supporting side.
  • With your palm facing inwards, bend the arm so the weight comes up into your chest/armpit.
  • Return slowly to the start position.
