Check Your Health: Squats while at work

Break up your workday by adding in some exercise. Squats are a great and effective way to get in some movement. If you have a tissue box, purse, ream of paper, or any other item around, inner thigh squats may be just the thing for you. Dr. Brett McIff with the Utah Department of Health takes our own Mary Nickles through the exercise.

  • Place a ream of paper (medicine ball, purse, etc.) between your knees.
  • Put just enough pressure on it to prevent it from falling.
  • Without using your hands, stand up from your chair.
  • Slowly return to the seated position, or better yet, just when you touch the chair stand back up
