(KUTV) Dress for Success is a not-for-profit that helps disadvantaged women get ready for a new job.
"We have helped about 327 women this year alone," said Marina Agloro, executive director for the Salt Lake chapter.
Dress for Success is an international organization, but came to the Salt Lake area in 2015. It recently moved into its current location on the corner of 300 South and 500 East in Salt Lake City.
Their clients come from many difficult situations, including domestic violence, homelessness, substance abuse, and more.
When an agency refers them to Dress for Success, volunteers help them find the perfect interview outfit.
"You put them in some clothes and you see them just brighten up," said Jana Sybrowsky, a volunteer.
The women are also provided with job training, interview skills and more. Anything they need to gain some confidence.
Once they get a job, they can go back to Dress for Success and get seven days of work wear--all for free.
"They're always so grateful for what we give them," Sybrowsky said.
But Dress for Success is more than about clothes or looks. They are about empowerment and transformation.
"Just seeing them transition from these fragile people that haven't had a lot of love or support in their life to being these confident women going into the workplace," said Agloro.
"It's a very powerful thing to be able to help a woman do that," said Sybrowsky.
Dress for Success gets their clothes all from donations from women in the community. They want nice, professional-looking clothing for women to wear to work.
The clothing needs to be in good condition.
Mountain America Credit Union donated $500 to the organization to help them continue their work.
