(KUTV) Another passion of David Neeleman's is lacrosse.

He was instrumental in making lacrosse a Division I sport at the University of Utah.

His son plays lacrosse and played the sport in the eastern United States, but wanted to be in Utah when he returned from his LDS mission.

"The more I started looking into it, the more I thought this would be great for the University of Utah," Neeleman said.

Neeleman got an assistant coach in North Carolina to come and coach in Utah and then worked with the University of Utah to get a committee together to review the possibility of making lacrosse a Division I sport.

According to Neeleman, the committee seem opposed to the idea at first, but when the Pac-12 commissioner got involved, it helped.

"Every single member of the committee saw the value of it," said Neeleman.
