(KUTV) We met with Meg Walter, a marketing director with Silicon Slopes, to discuss Startup Santa, a statewide book drive where companies compete to see who can raise the most books for low-income families in Utah.
In 2016 over $400,000 was donated, and close to 80,000 books.
This season, ten thousand dollars and about 2,000 books have been donated.
Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. is the cut-off for these companies to donate.
All donated books go to directly low income families.
"Low-income families do not have enough access to books," says Walter. "We are working to give these kids new books for Christmas, because you need books to be able to read."
Those who wish to get involved can visit Startup Santa's website. You can then get a bin and start collecting new books to donate. People can also donate money.
