(KUTV) — February is American Heart Month, and Alicia Richmond of Macy's joined KUTV in studio to discuss the Go Red for Women Movement.
According to Richmond, every eight seconds a woman dies because of heart disease. In fact, it kills more women than cancer.
Luckily, heart disease is 80% treatable, and preventable.
The goal of the movement is to spread awareness of knowing and being in touch with your body, and knowing when to get your heart checked.
Macy's has teamed up with the American Heart Association to launch Go Red Day on Feb. 2, 2018.
$3 pins can be purchased at any Macy's, the proceeds of which will go to the American Heart Association. Macy's also teamed up with Calvin Klein to produce the Go Red Dress. Ten percent of the profits from this dress will also go to American Heart Association. The pins will be available until the 5th of February.
