Breast-Fed Babies Need Vitamin D
(KUTV) Doctors encourage breastfeeding because of the many health benefits, but a new study says breast-fed babies also need a vitamin D supplement.
The current recommendation for babies being fully, or partially, breast-fed is 400 international units of vitamin D daily.
Vitamin D is important because it's essential for growing healthy bones.
It helps the body absorb calcium. Without enough calcium, bone production may suffer.
