2013 Domestic Violence Report
(KUTV) – The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition today released statistics regarding domestic violence related deaths in the state. According to a media release, there were 22 domestic violence related deaths in 2013. The victim’s ages ranged from 32 to 85 years of age. 2013 saw a decrease in the number of domestic violence related deaths according to the release. In 2012, there were a reported 30 deaths as a result of domestic violence.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three women in Utah will experience rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in her lifetime. The rate of domestic violence in Utah remains above the national average.
