Colin Farrell guides us through the Machiavellian aspects of ‘Fantastic Beasts’

Colin Farrell stars as Percival Graves in FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM (KATU)

(KUTV) - Percival Graves lingers at the edges of "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them."

As Director of Magical Security and head of MACUSA's Department of Magical Law Enforcement Graves watches over the Wizarding community in America. He's a bureaucrat, the sort of character that is bound to an ideal. He's inflexible, but does that make him evil?

Not every politician or government worker is corrupt. Is Graves a friend or foe to Newt Scamander? Or does he simply view Scamander's presence as something of a nuisance; a distraction from the real work that needs to be done?

Ryan Painter sat down with actor Colin Farrell to talk about his performance as Graves and the real-world connections that exist within J.K. Rowling's writings.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" will be released in theaters Nov. 18.
