Howell Says He'll Cut $2.5-Trillian From Federal Deficit
(KUTV) Democrat Scott Howell says he can cut the deficit $2.5-trillion without cutting social security and Medicaid.

Howell is running for senate against Sen. Orrin Hatch.

“My experience is not creating debt. My experience is creating jobs,” Howell says. He touts his years at IBM and says smarter computers can save the federal government $1-trillion over the next 10 years.

“We believe better technology can save a trillion dollars,” Howell says.

Howell also wants fewer tax breaks for oil companies, and higher taxes on the very rich.

He wants government workers to take some pain –reducing federal workers and no raises for three years for federal workers.

In all, Howell says he'll cut $2.5-trillion from the federal deficit over 10 years and that he won't hurt old people.

“We are not going to cut Medicare or social security,” Howell explains.
