(KUTV) A new sporting goods store has opened in Sandy right off I-15.

Scheel’s is open to the public on Saturday, September 29th after nearly a year of construction.

The store says expanding to Utah was a ‘no-brainer’.

“This community actually fits us very well,” said Karen Jones of Scheel’s. “We like four seasons and obviously you have that.”

Scheel’s has hired 400 local employees to staff the store – which features a ferris wheel and a 16,000-square foot aquarium.
