(KUTV) A plaque was dedicated on Thursday in honor of a police officer killed in the line of duty almost 40 years ago.

Salt Lake City officer Percy Clark was killed when trying to arrest two suspects in an armed robbery back in 1973.

The gunman struck Clark in the head and went to shoot again when he was taken down in police gun fire.

A plaque is now in place at the Third Avenue Bistro in the Avenues.

Clark's family said it is a touching tribute.
