Number Of Missionary Applications Increase Following Age Change
(KUTV) The age change for LDS Missionaries made waves just over two weeks ago when it was announced at the semi-annual General Conference – and now applications are flooding in.
The LDS Church reduced the age for missionaries to a year younger for men and two years younger for women.
The change in missionary age affects Mormon women more than men. Now 14% of Mormon missionaries are women – but more than 50% of the new applicants are women.
Typically, the LDS Church receives 700 new applications each week, but according to the church, that number has increased to about 4,000 each week.
