Inside The Story: Fairy-Tale Love Story for Kyle Van Noy
(KUTV) You could call it a real-life fairy tale; she was Miss Utah and he was a BYU football star, soon to be NFL player. But this story didn't come without some serious and embarrassing trials.
Kyle and Marissa's love story started about three years ago. It was before the two were so well known, that quickly changed. Marissa would soon become Miss Utah and Kyle would become a leading force with BYU football.
Marissa was at the top of her game last June; she made it to third runner up in the Miss USA pageant. She's remembered for her convoluted answer to the question about women making less money than men. She was ridiculed in private and in the media and had to overcome the embarrassment of the moment. It's a feeling Kyle could relate to, he sat out his freshman year at BYU for an honor code violation that went national.
They helped each other through their difficulties and then Kyle proposed to Marissa last November after she gave up the crown to the next Miss Utah. The two say their trials have strengthened their relationship.
Thursday is the start of the NFL draft which means Van Noy and Powell are on pins and needles wondering what team is going to pick up Kyle. Then there is also the wedding to worry about which is just one month away.
The two say they would love it if they can go somewhere warm, but right now Kyle says he's anxious to get a pay check. Once he is picked he says he could be on a plane as early as that night or the next day. He plans to fly in for the wedding and then he will have to report back to training a day later, so the honeymoon will have to wait.
