(KUTV) The nation's largest amusement thrill ride manufacturer is coming out with the ultimate roller coaster, and it's being built right here in Utah.
On the open range in Cache Valley it's quiet and peaceful. It's the last place you'd expect to see a prototype for the most thrilling roller coaster in the world, but that's exactly what you'll find in Logan, Utah. It's tucked behind a company called S&S Worldwide, which is the largest manufacturer of roller coasters in the United States. They've created over 450 roller coasters worldwide.
Their newest creation is the new 4-D Free Spin, this roller coaster is so high-tech it gives riders a different experience each time they ride. Mike Worley, the Senior Mechanical engineer for the project said, "We want people to be able to go on the ride and have enough variability to have three flips on one ride, five or maybe just two."
"It will be a new ride every time you try it. It is one of the most extreme roller coasters in the world." Worley says the challenge is to make the roller coaster thrilling enough to bring a scare, but not so frightening that people won’t try it. That's why they build prototypes in the open range of Cache Valley.
From start to finish it takes about a year and a half to two years to construct one of these huge roller coasters. The new 4-D Free Spin will be showing up in amusement parks around the country soon.
