Pay It Forward: Craig Bolerjack, Ginger Johnson
(KUTV) Regular mammograms are important to fight breast cancer, but Utah is currently second to last in the nation for the number of women who get screenings.

This weeks Pay it Forward recipients are a television personality and a cancer warrior who both want to make sure every woman in Utah is screened for cancer.

Well known Utah sportscaster Craig Bolerjack and cancer survivor Ginger Johnson, of Get Screened Utah, have joined forces with the Sandy Chamber of Commerce in the fight against breast cancer.

About six years ago my wife was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, Bolerjack said. Then my mom a couple years later was diagnosed with exactly the same cancer.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Only, I was 31 and was five months pregnant, said Johnson.

Both realized how important mammogram screenings can be to catch the disease early.

Ginger wants women to understand that you don't need to wait until youre 40, feel a lump or get sick. She says it is important for women in their 20s and 30s to get a baseline mammogram so future breast change can be detected.

There is now an annual Craig Bolerjack Classic Golf Tournament to raise money, which provides screenings for women whether they have insurance or not. The Craig Bolerjack Classic is this Friday at River Oaks Golf Course.  Along with the Sandy Chamber of Commerce, they've already provided screenings for several dozen women across Utah.
