Web Exclusive: Meals Creating Memories
Shauna Lake: You talk about how meals really create memories and the importance of family time. Explain that in your words.
Ann Romney: You know as a mom we just know that things are not just going to spontaneously happen and so there is a lot of planning involved and for me I talk about it a little bit in the book. It falls on our shoulders to make sure that we have the traditions that we enjoy so much and to have the meals and hopefully we'll all have a lovely mean together but the reality is the more often than not there is someone crying, mad, storming around and won't eat what you've made and that's the real reality of what its like when we go to all this work. But at the end of the day those are the memories that you remember and it's just being together and sharing those things and letting your hair fall, and just enjoying those moments. As a mom it falls on our shoulders to make sure that we do the planning that is involved.
Shauna Lake: It's so easy on a busy day to just do mac and cheese or whatever you have in the pantry but really that's not creating the environment that will create those moments with your kids that are really rare.
Ann Romney: You have to make those moments but you also have to recognize that they're not going to happen every night and that you can't make a good meal every night and that is the reality.
