Web Exclusive: Dating in the NFL
Paul Kruger talks about what it's like to try and date while being a football player in the NFL.
SHAUNA LAKE: Tell me a little bit, if you don’t mind, about your personal life. You’re a great looking guy. You’re in the NFL. You’re single. I mean, are you dating anybody? Is that something on your radar right now?
PAUL KRUGER: Yeah I mean…thank you first of all. You know it’s hard. You start traveling around. I’m of course dating, but I’m not in a serious relationship right now, but it is tough. It is tough because you’re in a lot of environments where you might not be meeting the people that you want to eventually be with, or you’re meeting somebody but then you’re back and forth. When I’m in season, I’m in different states and so busy that it’s just hard to maintain something. I know that’s not a good excuse, but it’s been good though. It’s allowed me to focus my energies in different areas, and so I’m enjoying being single right now. It can be a lot of fun sometimes.
SHAUNA LAKE: Do you ever worry if people like you for you, or like you for everything that comes with being with someone like you?
PAUL KRUGER: Yeah you know, you’re reminded that by people all the time. You got to be careful. People are trying to take advantage of you, and I’ve seen that. I’ve already experienced a lot of that with businessmen and with financial sort of people or agents. So there’s a lot of people that surround, I would say the entertainment world, that are a lot of shady people, and I think those people are cowards. They go into an environment where you know there are guys with no experience in the real world. I would consider myself a fairly intelligent person and so there comes a point where you have to start trusting people, but a lot of people are hard to be trusted. A lot of the guys who are in the NFL don’t have a lot of experience that I’ve even had. So they’ve had to trust people and there are a lot of guys who get taken advantage of.
