70-year-old hiker missing in Donut Falls area

UPDATE: Unified Police said the man has been found safe.

(KUTV) A hiker went missing Sunday around Donut Falls hiking trail in Big Cottonwood Canyon, after he was separated from his family.

Unified police said a 70-year-old man visiting from China was on the hike, and he is said to suffer from dementia and does not speak English.

Police said a lot of times, people with dementia go up hill instead of down hill so a helicopter and crews are looking up the hill from the popular recreation area.

He is said to be wearing a maroon shirt and tan pants. He is bald and is missing his left arm.
