Arrests made in suspicious injuries to Cache County teen
(KUTV) Smithfield Police have arrested two males in connection with a case in which a teen was found injured in a canal bed about ten miles from her home.
A friend of the family found 14-year-old Deserae Turner early Friday morning.
Turner failed to come home Thursday afternoon. That is when her parents reported her missing.
Police proceeded to investigate what they called "very suspicious circumstances."
After being located Turner was taken to a local hospital where doctors determined that she suffered "a very significant injury." She was then air-lifted to a Salt Lake City hospital for further treatment.
Police will not discuss the details of the injuries until the investigation is finished.
After narrowing the investigation of people associated with Turner down to two persons of interest, police proceeded to interview the males.
Information obtained from interviews with the males revealed that they were both involved in the incident, according to a press release from Smithfield Police. They have since been taken into custody.
Police will not release the identities of those arrested until the investigation wraps up.
