Child killed in accidental shooting with family’s hunting rifle
(KUTV) – Authorities in Uintah County are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child who was shot inside a Ballard, Utah, home.
The two-year-old girl was shot Sunday while a sibling was moving a hunting rifle that was leaning against a wall inside the home, according to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.
The gun apparently discharged accidentally and struck the girl. The child’s parents took her to Uintah Basin Medical Center where doctors pronounced her dead.
Sheriff’s investigators say the rile was brought inside the home after a hunting trip on Saturday.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. The child’s name was not released.
