Demolition begins at site of future Cottonwood Heights City Hall

(KUTV) Demolition has begun on eight homes in Cottonwood Heights as they make way for a new city hall.

Demolition started Monday morning for the building which will be at the corner of 2300 E. Bengal Blvd.

Cottonwood Heights Mayor Kelvyn Cullmore says the city currently rents a number of offices in a building on Fort Union Blvd.

"We've been a city for ten years and we've been renting space…so we're really excited to have a home an identity," said Cullmore.

It will take about a week to finish demolition and the city hopes to break ground on the new building in April.{ } The new building is scheduled to be finished in June of 2016.
