Hate groups identified in Utah
(KUTV) The Southern Poverty Law Center has created an interactive map that shows how many hate groups exist in each state.
The interface shows what groups are found in each state, and where.
Utah is home to the following hate groups:
- American Vanguard (a white nationalist group)
- The Fundamentalist church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (a general hate group)
- The Nationalist Socialist Movement (a neo-Nazi, Nationalist Socialist group)
Utah is home to comparatively few hate groups, compared to other state totals:
- California: 79
- Florida: 63
- Texas: 55
- New York: 47
- Pennsylvania: 40
The site points out the various statistics, such as the number of active Ku Klux Klan groups (130), black separatist groups (193), and anti-government "patriot" groups (663).
"This list was compiled using hate group publications and websites, citizen and law enforcement reports, field sources and news reports."
