(KUTV) David Erekson, a 42-year-old Huntsville man, is behind bars after Weber County Sheriff's Office said he attacked his mother and stabbed his step father to death Wednesday evening at their home.

Lt. Nate Hutchinson said the three lived under the same roof just right off 7409 E. 400 S. in Huntsville.

Hutchinson said the incident started as a family confrontation Wednesday night. It's unclear what the argument was about but it led to the hospitalization of 72-year-old Gundi McClarin who received serious injuries to her face and the death of 69-year-old Roger Haven.

"We responded on scene and when we got there we could see a male victim inside of the home laying down," Hutchinson said.

A few minutes after finding Haven, deputies located the suspect, Erekson, outside in the back yard. When deputies asked him to comply to their orders, he fought back.

"He actively resisted, started to fight with him and they had to deploy a taser to take him into custody." Hutchinson said.

WCSO said Erekson now faces possible felony murder, domestic violence assault and interfering with arrest charges.
