Intoxicated man reportedly entered woman's home in early morning, sexually abused her
(KUTV) — An American Fork man was arrested Saturday afternoon following a report that he broke into a woman's home and sexually abused her.
The woman victim told police that Adam Smith, 39, entered her home at 5 a.m. because he "just wanted to talk," reports state.
The woman reportedly barely knew Smith. When she noticed how drunk Smith was, she asked him to leave. But Smith refused.
He eventually forced her to sit on the couch beside him. He reportedly grabbed her inappropriately and forcibly kissed her. She told him to stop multiple times.
Reports state that the woman eventually broke free and locked herself in her bedroom. Smith remained in her residence for more than eight hours.
Police later attempted to speak with Smith, but he was too intoxicated to speak coherently. Even at the Utah County Jail, Smith was reportedly unable to speak well enough to give a statement.
Smith was booked into jail on suspicion of one second-degree felony of burglary, one second-degree felony of forcible sexual abuse, and one class C misdemeanor of intoxication.
