Man threatens to rape Utah judge, shoot ‘pregnant women, old people and kids’, charges say
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah —
(KUTV) An inmate at the Salt Lake County Jail is facing new charges after allegedly sending a threatening letter to a judge.
Prosecutors allege Norman Pierce, 37, said in the letter that he would rape the third-district court judge who is presiding over his case for previous felonies.
Pierce also wrote that he had “15 guns” and “tons of ammo,” and would “blow pregnant women, old people, and kids away,” charging documents state.
The letter was sent from the Salt Lake County Jail. Pierce has been in jail since April, and since his stay began he has been charged with several other felonies including attempting to damage the jail, assault by a prisoner, and disorderly conduct.
Court records show Pierce pleaded guilty in 2014 to assaulting jail staff in Salt Lake County.
