Homicide investigation underway after body found in Cottonwood Heights

UPDATE: Police say Alejandro Guardado may have driven the car that the homicide victim was found him. If you know where he is, police ask that you call them.

(KUTV) Cottonwood Heights Police are investigating a homicide after 31-year-old Mauricio Martinez was found in a credit union parking lot Friday morning.

They say construction crews near 6485 S. 3000 E. saw a man in his 20s, slumped over in the passenger seat of a blue sedan. They found Martinez was shot to death.

Police say the blue sedan had a broken passenger window, flat tires and Oregon plates. They also believe the murder did not happen in the Mountain America parking lot, but elsewhere. They are investigating other locations around the Salt Lake valley.

Mountain America Credit Union has been closed for the day.
