(KUTV) A man in the Ogden Valley was arrested Wednesday night after he killed his stepfather and beat up his mother, according to police.

On Wednesday night, David Erekson, 42, attacked his mother and his stepfather, Roger Haven, 69, according to Weber County Sheriff's office Lt. Nate Hutchinson.

Ereckson was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail for suspicion of murder, domestic violence assault with substantial injuries, obstruction of justice, and interfering with an arrest.

At about 7 p.m. on Wednesday night police say Erekson's mother called 911 to report a "family disturbance" in Huntsville near 7400 East and 400 South, police said.

By the time officers arrived Haven was dead inside the home with injuries that appeared to show he was assaulted and stabbed. Erekson's mother had also been assaulted and has severe facial injuries. She was taken to a local hospital. Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

When police arrived at the house they searched the area and found Erekson in the back yard. Officers tried to arrest him, but he refused to comply and resisted arrest, Hutchinson said. Police used a Taser to subdue Erekson and arrest him. There is not current threat to the public since police believe he acted alone.

This is a developing story. 2News will have more details as it becomes available.
