(KUTV) — One of Utah County’s most popular summer attractions may be closing its doors for good.

Parkprovo, LLC, the company that owns Seven Peaks Water Park in Provo, filed for bankruptcy on Monday. This comes just weeks after Seven Peaks Provo was taken off the popular Pass of All Passes venue list.

“I am sad if this is the beginning of the end," said Isaac Paxman, deputy mayor of the city of Provo.

He added the waterpark has been around for as long as he can remember. It’s become a staple in the community. Moms in the area shared Paxman’s sentiments and are sad to hear of the bankruptcy.

“Now the community will have to find another place to get their summer fun in,” Whitney McGowan said.

The company said it is unclear if the water park will open this summer. They released the following statement on the bankruptcy:

On April 23, 2018, Parkprovo, LLC, the owner of the Provo Water Park since 2016, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Parkprovo, LLC is entirely separate from and unrelated to the Seven Peaks management team. No arrangements have been made for the Provo Water Park to operate as a Seven Peaks facility during the 2018 summer season.
The Seven Peaks management team that has managed the park for nearly two decades, had recommended a reputable, experienced and well-known water park management company to operate the park for the 2018 summer season, but the bankruptcy filing by Parkprovo LLC, makes it unclear what will now happen regarding management of the park.
