Teen boy shot in South Salt Lake critically injured
UPDATE: A man was arrested in connection with the murder of 16-year-old in South Salt Lake.
UPDATE: The teen boy who died after being shot walking home from school has been identified by police as Alan Hernandez-Lopez, a South Salt Lake resident.
The shooting investigation is ongoing. Police have not identified a suspect or a motive in the case. No arrest has been made, police say.
(KUTV) - A 16-year-old boy was shot and critically injured as he walked home from school in South Salt Lake on 300 East and 3100 South.
The boy, who was a student at the Granite School District's STEP program, was walking home from school, about two doors down from the school building, when he was shot right outside a house near the sidewalk.
At the time of this post, police were still looking for the shooter.
Ben Horsley, Spokesman for the Granite School District said the STEP program is for students who've violated the safe schools policy by either committing a crime or a violation like bullying.
