U of U announces author and producer Ben Nemtin to speak at 2018 commencement
(KUTV) -- The University of Utah announced that Ben Nemtin, No. 1 New York Times best-selling author and star of MTV’s “The Buried Life,” is delivering the 2018 commencement address, May 3, 2018.
The author and producer's journey began a decade ago when he and his friends set out on a two-week road trip with a camera and a borrowed RV to complete a bucket list of “100 things to do before you die.”
The bucket list Nemtin and his friends created - and nearly have fulfilled - included a basketball game with President Barack Obama and a comedy sketch with actor Will Farrell. Nemtin even got to feel what it was like to sit on Oprah Winfrey’s couch.
He is now able to check off making a movie with “The Buried Life” feature documentary set to release this year.
Nemtin's journey has additionally raised more than $400,000 for charity, which inspired millions to chase their dreams while helping others.
“Graduation is a gateway with paths leading in every direction,” Nemtin said in a news release. “Many struggle answering the question, ‘Where do I go from here?’ I am deeply honored to have this opportunity to speak at the University of Utah’s commencement ceremony and share how I answer that question.”
General commencement exercises are to take place Thursday, May 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center on the University of Utah campus. The event is free and open to the public.
