UDOT announces its Top 10 construction projects for 2017

(KUTV) — The Utah Department of Transportation announced its Top 10 construction projects for 2017 April 12, which the department said would include new interchanges, freeway reconstructions, new highways, and widening and repaving projects.

The top 10 projects include:

Bangerter Highway Interchanges
Cost: $249 million
Construction period: April 2017 to late 2018
Description: Five new interchanges will be built at 5400 South, 7000 South, 9000 South, and 11400 South, along with an interchange under construction at 600 West. The interchanges at 600 West and 7000 South will be completed this year.

I-215—4700 South to S.R. 201
Cost: $105 million
Construction period: Last season to late 2017
Description: Reconstruction of the I-215 west belt between S.R. 201 and 4700 South, which includes replacing bridges over S.R. 201, widening the freeway with new exit-only lanes and upgrading signals and traffic management systems.

Mountain View Corridor
Cost: $168 million
Construction period: Last season to late 2018
Description: UDOT will extend the Mountain View Corridor in Salt Lake County between 5400 South and 4100 South and in Utah County between Redwood Road/2100 North and State Route 73.

I-15—Brigham Road to Dixie Drive
Cost: $28 million
Construction period: January 2017 to late 2017
Description: UDOT will add auxiliary lanes on Interstate 15 in St. George between Brigham Road and Dixie Drive.

10600 South Interchange Improvements and Widening
Cost: $31 million
Construction period: Spring 2017
Description: UDOT will add an underpass at I-15/10600 South and Monroe Street. It will also complete construction on 10600 South Bridge over I-15.

Redwood Road
Cost: $97 million
Construction period: Spring 2017 to late 2018
Description: UDOT will construct a new diverging diamond interchange at I-215 in North Salt Lake, widen a section between 12600 South and Bangerter Highway from two lanes to seven lanes and widen a section between 400 South and Stillwater Parkway to five lanes.

I-80—1300 East to Foothill Drive
Cost: $12 million
Construction period: Summer 2017 to Fall 2017
Description: UDOT will repave a 2.5-mile section of Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City.

S. 191 Corridor
Cost: $43 million
Construction period: March 2017 to fall 2017
Description: UDOT will complete 13 projects along the U.S. 191, including road widening, intersection improvements, and paving projects.

S. 40—Myton Bench Widening
Cost: $35 million
Construction period: February 2017 to fall 2017
Description: UDOT will widen a six-mile section of U.S. 40 to five lanes in Duchesne County.

I-70— Richfield South to Richfield North
Cost: $15 million
Construction period: May 2017 to fall 2017
Description: UDOT will resurface four miles on I-70 in Richfield and perform bridge maintenance.

UDOT said it has a total of 180 projects scheduled for construction in 2017, which will have a combined value of $1.3 billion.
