(KUTV) — A woman was taken into custody after a long, fast police chase Friday night. Utah Highway Patrol troopers finally performed a PIT maneuver after the 88-mile chase to stop the woman's car safely.

Troopers said they clocked the woman going more than 100 mph on Interstate 15 southbound near Nephi, Utah, around 7 p.m. She refused to pull over her white four-door sedan, a Hyundai Sonata, when requested and was chased for 88 miles according to troopers.

The driver's tires were successfully spiked, forcing her to slow her car down, when troopers were finally able to force her car to stop with law enforcement vehicles. The woman was taken into custody but it is not yet clear why the women tried to flee from the troopers who said there was no obvious reason why she would try to escape.
