(KUTV) - St. George detectives arrested former Utah school teacher Curtis Payne for 12 additional counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
These new charges come from follow-up investigations which helped identify additional victims, aged 14 to 30 years old.
The abuse allegations span the length of Payne's career.
"Many of the interviews resulted in disclosures that described similar patterns of conduct which involved touching and other behavior by Mr. Payne; however, many of the incidents had not progressed to the point where criminal violations occurred. Other disclosures did provide sufficient evidence that crimes were committed and charges have been filed as a result," according to a St. George Police Department press release.
32 interviews have happened during this investigation.
The investigation is still active and police will not provide further details until the case is completed.
