Firefighters making progress on Honeyville Fire

(KUTV) Fire officials are getting an upper hand on a 800-acre fire that continues to burn Sunday evening near Honeyville, Utah, in Box Elder County.

Current estimates place containment at 20 percent as 40 firefighters continue to monitor the fire’s growth in an unpopulated area northeast of Honeyville.

“The fire is now on the forest service land. We are getting a lot of calls for the fire, please help us spread the word that we know about the fire in this area and to not contact dispatch,” Box Elder County information officer Mitch Zundel said in a news release.

The fire initially torched afield several hundred yards from homes, but the flames spread away from the town.

No structures have been destroyed and no evacuations are in place.

Fire officials told 2News they will remain on scene of the fire through

the night to monitor the fire’s movements.
