(KUTV) — All high-profile vehicles are banned from Interstate 80 in both directions from Lake Point, Utah, west to the state line at Wendover. UDOT issued the restrictions Monday.

The Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning, in effect until 10 p.m. for the Great Salt Lake desert and mountains, including the Bonneville Salt Flats and the Tooele Valley.

It said winds will be in the 25 mph to 35 mph with guests up to 65 mph. Those gusts are strong enough to cause damage.

The weather service said travel would be impacted by strong crosswinds along I-80, especially across the Salt Flats. It said blowing dust could reduce visibility.

It also warned that conditions on the Great Salt Lake and Utah Lake may become dangerous because of gusty wind and choppy water.
