Woman accused of beating son on JetBlue flight arrested in Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY —
(KUTV) - According to court paperwork, 46-year-old Cherice Klipfel from Lakewood, Colorado assaulted her 8-year-old several times while on JetBlue Flight 647 Sunday, December 10, 2017.
In the court documents, her son is identified as J.C.H.
A witness was sitting next to the mother and son and told authorities about "A dozen episodes where Klipfel would strike, slap or kick J.C.H or aggressively shove him against the bulkhead or window.
Each violent episode would be followed by a loving period where Klipfel would calm down and they would sit without a problem.
Klipfel also “Used her boot to shove J.C.H against the window." At some point “Klipfel use a coat to tightly cover J.C.H's head/face and shake him aggressively using the coat."
The witness told authorities the young boy was crying the whole flight and begged for his mother to stop.
Multiple passengers were so shaken by the scene they reported the incident to the flight attendant.
The FBI was investigated when the plane landed, and Klipfel was taken into custody.
The young boy is in the custody of DCFS.
The detention hearing for Klipfel is scheduled for Wednesday.
