Zero fatalities on Utah roads during St. Patrick’s day weekend
(KUTV) The Utah Highway Patrol released statistics Monday morning for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, which saw no fatalities on Utah roads.
UHP and several other law enforcement agencies had increased patrols throughout the weekend, but the numbers released by UHP only cover what state troopers did.
UHP St. Patrick’s Day Numbers:
- Traffic Stops: 1893
- DUI Arrests: 38
- Speed Tickets: 967
- Seatbelt Violations: 122
In addition to St. Patrick’s day, law enforcement was also dealing with an extra surge of people in the downtown Salt Lake City area for the March Madness tournament and the FanX convention.
While there were no fatalities Saturday or Sunday, an elderly male driver died Friday afternoon after a single-car accident in Ogden.
