Report: Lawyer's pants burst into flames during arson trial
A Miami attorney stunned the courtroom when his pants caught fire during his client's arson trial.
According to The Miami Herald, defense lawyer Stephen Gutierrez was in the middle of arguments when "smoke began billowing out of his right pocket."
Gutierrez ran from the courtroom, insisting it wasn't a stunt. He blamed an e-cigarette for sparking the flames.
The newspaper reports officers took e-cigarette batteries from the attorney as evidence.
His client is accused of intentionally setting a car on fire, and was convicted by a jury of second-degree arson.
