Heavy Rain Causes Some Residential Flooding in Coalville
(KUTV) Due to heavy rain on Sunday several residents in Coalville found water seeping into their homes. Officials reportedly shutdown streets and volunteers used sandbags to protect homes from flood waters.
Four homes in Coalville were affected by the heavy rain and several others throughout the community had their homes flooded.
A North Summit Fire Department spokesman told 2News that flooding occurred because the snow-covered ground couldn't absorb the rainfall quickly enough.
Officials say they were able to stop additional flood damage with the use of sandbags and water pumps. The homes that were flooded are in the process of being cleaned up.
