2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
3/4 cup hot water
1 cup light corn syrup
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon flavoring (vanilla, peppermint extract, rum extract, orange extract, etc.)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1.) Combine gelatin and 1/2 cup cold water. Stir until incorporated. Set aside.
2.) Heat 3/4 water in sauce pan. Add sugar and corn syrup. Stir until dissolved. Heat to 240. Make sure no sugar crystals are present on the sides of the sauce pan.
3.) Pour into mixer bowl with wire whip attachment. Beat on high, adding gelatin mixture one tablespoon at a time, for about 10 minutes.
4.) Stir in flavoring. Pour into a buttered 9 inch square pan. Cool 3 hours or until set. Cut into desired shape by dipping cutting utensil in water. Drop into powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
