This is one of my favorite 15-minute meals because it is quick, it is delicious and it has so many health benefits. Sausage and sauerkraut are a classic combination but lets look beyond the flavor and look at the health benefits.
Health benefit #1 Cultured raw sauerkraut contains beneficial bacteria. The healthiest people around the globe make a daily habit of consuming cultured and fermented foods. These foods keep our digestive system healthy and strengthen our immune system.
Health benefit #2 This is a low glycemic meal meaning it is free of sugar and carbohydrates. Both sugars and carbs (sugars in disguise) are incredibly damaging to our body. We know they cause us to gain weight and now many studies are showing major negative effects of carbohydrates our brain.
