1 cup all flour
2/3 cups cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp baking soda
oil for deep frying
salt and pepper to taste
1.) Heat oil in your deep fryer to 370 degree’s.
2.) In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients and whisk together (salt and pepper to taste).
3.) In a small bowl whisk the buttermilk and egg together. Pour the buttermilk and egg mixture into your dry ingredients. Mix together until smooth.
4.) Dip the hot dogs in the batter and shake off any excess batter. Deep fry until golden brown.
5.) Remove the corn dogs from the deep fryer and place on a plate that has been lined with paper towels.
6.) Allow the corn dogs to cool slightly. When cool enough to touch, insert the wooden stick into one end of the dog.
7.) Serve with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
